Single axle drop table systems are designed for the removal of single wheel-sets or “combos” that contain the wheel-set with a gearbox and traction motor all in one. These systems can be electromechanical (self-locking screws) or hydraulic by design, depending on available space and pit depth requirements. These systems sit within a pit below grade and act as a bridge for the railcar to pass over when it is up and in the locked position. When the wheel-set is ready for removal, the system can be unlocked and lowered and then traversed over to a “release” track or area to remove the wheel-set and replace it with a new one that has already been overhauled. This quick changeout process allows the rail vehicle to be put back into service as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Full Truck drop table systems are designed for removal of an entire truck assembly from the rail vehicle to exchange with a new or refurbished truck assembly. These systems also require body stands and box beams that extend over the open pit to support one end of the railcar when the truck is removed. These systems are typically designed with a 50, 75, 100, or 125 Ton lifting and/or cross-over capacity which is equivalent to half of the weight of the vehicle being supported by the drop table system.

Combination drop table systems are designed for the removal of a full truck OR a single wheel-set, depending on the service needs of the vehicle. When a full truck needs to be removed, both the service top and auxiliary tops are unlocked and lowered with the system. When a single wheel-set (axle) needs to be removed, the service top remains locked in position with the foundation and the auxiliary top is unlocked and lowered with the lifting frame and drop table assembly.
